Welcome back to this week’s edition of 2-Minute Tuesdays where we are bringing you one exercise topic, talking about it for two minutes, and giving you three reasons why you should follow our advice. This week we are talking to those of you who go from the gym right back to the office. How do you workout if you are about to go see all of your colleagues at work? What can you do to make sure that you still present yourself professionally?
1) Pick Exercises That Don’t Require You To Sweat
Here’s the biggest problem–you can’t get super sweaty, right? Unless you are going to take that half an hour to an hour of time to get changed, take a shower, and get your hair all ready again, you have to watch the sweat factor. Because of this, our number one tip is to pick exercises that will help you progress towards your goals but don’t require you to sweat a whole bunch.
Action Step: Know your body. If you sweat a lot when you go for a run, that may not be your best option. Usually, getting a good strength training session in where you are focused on moving slowly and with control will not leave you as sweaty as some other exercise alternatives. Find what is right for you and get after it!
2) Increase The Intensity Of Your Focus
Our second tip is to increase the intensity of your focus, not necessarily the intensity of your effort. If you are doing high-effort activities, you may start to sweat a lot. You can still challenge your body immensely by increasing the intensity of your focus, blocking everything else out, and completely zeroed in on squeezing your muscles instead of trying to pump as much as you can.
Action Step: You can make an exercise extremely challenging just by changing your focus. If you want to keep your effort and your sweat low, commit to focusing 100% on squeezing the specific muscles you are trying to work instead of lifting or moving the weight.
3) Bring A Change Of Socks
Finally, make sure change your socks before heading back to the office.
Action Step: Always keep a backup pair of socks in your gym bag, car, and/or office just in case you forget to bring one with you.
