Muscle Activation Techniques®

The Easiest Way To Optimize Your Health & Function

Are you functioning at a high level but looking for something to clean up any little pieces that may be off?

If so, you would be what we call an “Optimizer”. An Optimizer is somebody who doesn’t have any aches or pains that are holding them back, they can do what they want when they want, but they feel like there may be some tiny things here and there that are keeping them from living their absolute best.

Fortunately, there is a simple process to help you optimize your system if you fall into this category and it all revolves around your muscles and your nervous system.

This process not only will help identify where the things are that need to be cleaned up, it will also provide a straightforward road map to addressing them quickly and efficiently.

This process has helped thousands of people feel and function their best for over two decades, and it can help you, as well.

What is this process?

Muscle Activation Techniques®, and it is one of our specialties here at Muscle Activation Schaumburg.

Muscle Activation Techniques®, or MAT®, takes a unique approach to identifying where in your body you have muscles that aren’t working as well as they should and then addresses those underactive muscles directly.

The result is you get to leave every MAT® session with greater strength, flexibility, and ability to do the things in your life that you love doing.

So how does MAT® optimize your system?

Let’s explore three ways…

1. MAT® Can Strengthen ALL of Your Skeletal Muscles

There are over 550 muscles within your body that a trained MAT® practitioner can assess and strengthen. From the muscles at the base of your skull all the way to the tips of your fingers and toes and everywhere in between, there are tests to assess every single skeletal muscle within your body and activation techniques to get them stronger and working better.

While many modalities or practitioners will look at only a handful of the big muscles that they know about, MAT® practitioners are highly trained in neuromuscular anatomy and function, giving them a much deeper understanding of what may be holding your body back.

2. MAT® Can Strengthen Your Muscles Through Their Full Range of Motion

One of the signatures of MAT® is getting muscles stronger where they are most likely to be weak and dysfunctional, which is in their shortened positions. The benefits of this are many, including seeing a carryover of these strengthening effects into longer and longer positions of the muscles.

What this means is that by focusing on getting muscles stronger and functioning better when they are shorter, the muscles also start to get stronger and function better when they are longer.

This is important for a couple of reasons:

  1. It becomes more time efficient to strengthen the muscles in the shortened position because the work then carries over to all of their other positions
  2. You will use your muscles in a variety of lengths and positions outside of your MAT® session, so having them function well in all the ways you will use them is critical in order for your body to stay optimized

3. MAT® Increases Your Neuromuscular Options

Imagine you are driving to work and the main road you take is closed down. It is helpful to have more than one way to get to work. If you only have one road to get you to your office, then any closure of it creates a significant issue. However, if you have multiple roads you can use, any closure, construction, or traffic can be easily avoided and by taking a different route with minimal disruption to your day.

The same idea holds true for your muscles.

The more muscles your body sees as available to complete the activities you want to do, the easier it will be for you to do those activities without issues. However, if some of your muscles start to not function properly, your options for using different muscles gets fewer and fewer.

With MAT®, by reinstating the function of all of your muscles, you regain control of all of your potential muscle options. Not only will this help you keep doing the things you love to do, it will also help reduce the stress taken on by any one group of muscles from having to overwork to make up for other muscles that aren’t doing enough.

Continuing to keep your body dialed in and optimized is a consistent process of checking in to see how your body is doing and then tuning up anything that has fallen out of order.

Fortunately, with MAT®, the process is simple, efficient, and effective.
