Welcome back to this week’s edition of 2-Minute Tuesdays where we are talking about one exercise topic for two minutes and giving you three reasons why you should follow our advice. Now this week, we are talking to those of you who are looking to stay fit over the Fourth. What things can you do over this holiday week in order to make sure you stay consistent with your workouts and your body stays healthy?
1) Schedule Your Exercise Beforehand
Tip Number One To Stay Fit Over The Fourth – Schedule your exercise beforehand. Today is Tuesday, tomorrow is Wednesday, and then we are right into the holiday weekend. Make sure you take the time now to write in your schedule when and where you will be exercising so you know it gets done.
Action Step: When can you squeeze a workout in each day over the long weekend? Block the time off in your schedule now to make sure that you don’t get too busy.

2) Enjoy The Food But Be Mindful
Tip Number Two To Stay Fit Over The Fourth – When it comes to the food, enjoy it, but be mindful about what you are eating. Just because it is a holiday weekend, it is not an invitation to eat whatever you want; you are still going to have to deal with the repercussions of that. You can still enjoy yourself, have a good time, and eat some things you don’t normally eat, but be considerate of your body and how you are feeling and don’t go too crazy with it.
Action Step: Set a “food allowance” for yourself over the holiday weekend comprised of a set number of cheat meals you will allow yourself. Once you reach your allowed limit, return to eating how you typically do.

3) Plan Family- or Group-Inclusive Events
Tip Number Three To Stay Fit Over The Fourth – Plan some fun family-inclusive or group-inclusive events. This is a great way to get active during your holiday weekend and also make it fun for the entire family. You can find a cool place to hike, go kayaking, attend the local celebrations and walk around – there are a ton of options! Find some things to do that can keep you active and also includes others.
Action Step: Look online to see what events will be going on in your area over the weekend. Take 30 minutes to sit down and plan out which ones you would like to go to and how you can stay moving while you are there!q
