Welcome back to this week’s edition of 2-Minute Tuesdays where we are talking about one exercise topic for two minutes and giving you three reasons why you should follow our advice. This week we are talking to those of you that want to improve the health of your brain. How can you use exercise to improve your brain’s health and function?
1) Include Resistance Training and Cardio
Exercise Tip Number One To Improve Brain Health: Make sure to include resistance training and cardio. One of the things we learned this year through one of our “Exercise is Health” Podcast interviews is that resistance training is exceptionally good at keeping the brain cells healthy.

2) Make Exercise a Multi-Sensory Experience
Exercise Tip Number One To Improve Brain Health: Make exercise a multi-sensory experience. Make sure you are listening to things, music or something in nature, use different lights or exercise outside! Make your exercise a multi-sensory experience in order to get those brain cells firing.
Action Step: Plan your workouts in different locations- the gym, the park, your neighborhood, and different gyms!

3) Incorporate Learning Into your Exercise
Exercise Tip Number One To Improve Brain Health: Incorporate learning into your exercise and activities. Challenge yourself with new tasks, new motor skills, and new motions. This will keep you learning as you stay fit.
Action Step: Try and new class or work with a trainer that can teach your new movements and skills.
