With as busy as life can be these days, it can be really easy to let yourself have the same thoughts, use the same words, and do the same actions as everybody around you…
…Thinking, “There’s so much to do…I don’t know when I will get my workouts in.”
…Saying, “I don’t have time to workout this week. I have too much to get done.”
…And doing a whole bunch of things that aren’t your workouts.
So what can you do to stop this cycle before it even gets going?
There is one action that you can take right now that will change all of this and actually help you get your workouts in…
Decide.
Decide that you are going to workout this week.
Make that decision right now, because once you do, your brain will start working on solving the problem of, “How do I get that done?”.
See, to decide means to cut off or to remove all other possibilities; so once you decide to workout, you completely remove the possibility of not working out.
But, until that decision is made, the idea of working out will feel overwhelming and the details of doing so will be uncertain because your brain will be busy figuring out solutions to all of the other tasks you are presenting it.
However, once you make the decision that you are going to workout, instantly it becomes a possibility to your brain and it will start to seek out opportunities for you to do that and you will start to see those opportunities present themselves throughout your day.
It is the same concept as when you decide you are interested in a particular car, you start seeing it on the road more and more. The car was always there, but once you told your brain the car was important, you started seeing it more.
And once you decide you are going to purchase the car, your brain starts putting plans in place to do just that.
In fact, in our experience, once people decide they are going to workout, they are (at least) 30% more likely to get their workout in.
This week, when it feels like there’s no time and there is too much to do, decide you are going to exercise, and watch as your brain starts showing you exactly how and when you are going to get it done.
