This month on Trainer Tip Tuesday we will be discussing considerations when you are back extensions from the ground on another flat surface, such as a massage table. Back extensions can be one of the most effective ways to strengthen your low back muscles and improve your spinal mobility, but there are some key things you need to watch out for to make sure you are doing them correctly.
What you think about when you do back extensions can have a tremendous influence on how your body feels during and after this exercise. While many people would prefer not to feel their low back at all, actively trying to sense your muscles squeeze along your spine can do wonders for how effective this exercise is at strengthening your back muscles.
Make sure not to fall in the trap of only trying to squeeze your low back muscles. Instead, try to feel all of the muscles along your entire spine (lower back, mid back, and upper back) all squeezing throughout this exercise.
Check out all of the details in this week’s episode of Trainer Tip Tuesday, and be sure to tune back in next week as we discuss more considerations when doing back extensions.
