Welcome back to this week’s edition of 2-Minute Tuesdays. Now this week, we are talking to those of you who find yourself stuck on zoom meetings all day, every day. What can you do to combat this chronic stress with your exercise as well as make sure to consistently get your workouts in despite your constant zooming?
1) Set Timers To Move Around
Our first exercise tip if you are constantly on zoom is to set timers to move around or use the end of your zoom meetings as your timer to move around. If you are working from home, it can be difficult to move around throughout the day. But, it is imperative for your health and wellbeing that you still find ways to get in light physical activity intermittently every day.
Action Step: At a minimum, you need to be moving for ten minutes three times a day. However, optimal would be for five minutes out of every 30 minutes or ten minutes out of every hour. Find what works best for you, set a timer to remind you, and make sure to get it done!
2) Prioritize Exercising Early In The Day
Our second exercise tip if you are constantly on zoom is to prioritize exercising early in the day. We often see that when people try to wait until the evening to get their workout in, they end up not doing it because meetings run long or they struggle to feel energized enough to do it. However, when you get your workout in before your meetings start, not only will meetings running long not affect your workout, but you will also be sharper and more focused during your meetings.
Action Step: Make a commitment to get your workouts in in the morning for the next week and see how it goes. If you hate it, great, you can switch back to exercising in the evening. But give it a week and see how much more consistent you can be with your exercise and how much more focused you can be during the day!
3) Find Something or Someone To Keep You Accountable
Our third exercise tip if you are constantly on zoom is to find something or someone to keep you accountable to exercising. There are a TON of online and virtual workout options these days, from Facebook groups, various apps, and even the MAS At-Home Workout Program. Try them out and find something that works for you!
Action Step: Spend a little bit of time looking online to find classes, groups, or trainers who can help keep you accountable virtually.
