Welcome back to this week’s edition of 2-Minute Tuesdays where we are talking about one exercise topic for two minutes and giving you three reasons why you should follow our advice. Now this week, we are talking to those of you who are the head honcho at your company. You are the business owner. You are the CEO. And you have everything on your shoulders, except for the time to workout. How can you find the time to exercise and how should you be exercising to make sure you can run your company for the long term?
1) Schedule Your Exercise
Exercise Tip Number One for CEOs – You HAVE to schedule your exercise. There will always be things to do for your business. There will always be new tasks to accomplish. So, make sure to schedule your exercise or schedule with a personal trainer.
Action Step: Break out your calendar and write down when you are going to exercise this upcoming week. It doesn’t have to be for 60 minutes, so if you only have 20 or 30 minutes to spare, that will work! We also find that a lot of CEOs work well with a personal trainer because they don’t have to plan anything. They can just show up and all of the exercise decisions are made for them.

2) Prioritize Resistance Training
Exercise Tip Number Two for CEOs – Prioritize resistance training. It is super easy to fall into the habit of going for a run if you only have 20 minutes. While cardio can be a suitable form of exercise from time to time, by prioritizing resistance training you are setting your body up to function well for the long term.

3) Consistency Trumps Perfection
Exercise Tip Number Three for CEOs – Remember that exercising consistently is far more potent than trying to exercise perfectly. If you’ve never worked out or are unfamiliar with the gym, that’s okay! The biggest thing is to schedule your time, be consistent with it, and just start anywhere. Your consistency with your workouts is going to be more powerful for your health than the perfection of your workouts.
