Welcome back to this week’s edition of 2-Minute Tuesdays where we are talking about one exercise topic for two minutes and giving you three reasons why you should follow our advice. Now this week, we’re talking to those of you who are preparing for golf season. The links are opening up and you are ready to hit them. But, what things do you need to keep in mind with your workouts to have a safe, effective, and fun golf season?
1) Add In Strength Training For Your Core
Tip number one – one of the biggest things we see with golfers is issues with the low back and core area. So, make sure starting now, before golf season starts, you are working on some strength training for your core area.
Action Step: Check out this episode of our podcast, Exercise Is Health, to hear our take on what core exercises you should be doing and how often you should do them!
2) Make Sure Your Feet Stay Strong & Mobile
Tip number two – you have to keep in mind how your feet are moving. You have to make sure that your feet are strong, your feet are stable, and your feet have the mobility required for the repetitive golf swing motion that you are going to do.
Action Step: Check out this post on our blog for five exercises you can do for your feet. These exercises can be done anywhere to help make sure your feet stay strong and mobile.
3) Check In With Your MAT® Practitioner
Tip number three – go check in with your local Muscle Activation Techniques® (MAT®) Specialist. MAT® is designed to find the muscles that you are going to be compensating around. The last thing we want slowing you down are muscles that you have to compensate for.
