Welcome back to this week’s edition of 2-Minute Tuesdays where we are talking about one exercise topic for two minutes and giving you three reasons why you should follow our advice. Now this week, we are talking to those of you who may be eating a lot of food in the coming days. We are talking to our American friends who have Thanksgiving coming up. What considerations with your exercise do you need to take if you are going to be eating a lot over the coming days?
1) Don’t Over-Exercise To Make Up For Overeating
Tip number one – don’t try to make up for the extra calories you will be eating at Thanksgiving in the gym. Every single time we see people do this they come out injured. What they are doing is they are overworking their body because they are overeating. We suggest you eat and enjoy your Thanksgiving meals, but don’t take it out in the gym.
Action Step: Enjoy the day, but don’t punish yourself in the gym for doing so. Continue to exercise at an appropriate level for your body and you will see much better results than if you try to over-exert yourself.

2) Get Back To Your Normal Plan ASAP
Tip number two – try to get back into your regular routine as quickly as you can. Enjoy your Thanksgiving and your time with friends and family, but once it is over, try to get back into your regular eating and exercise routine as quickly as possible.
Action Step: Treat the day after Thanksgiving like any other day. If you would normally exercise on a Friday, get in a workout. If you have specific foods that you eat at the end of the week, try to prepare those for yourself ahead of time.

3) Go See Your MAT® Specialist
Tip number three – go see your MAT® Specialist. Every time we see people excessively eating sugar and excessively eating food that is not that great for them we see their muscular system get down-regulated. This means that your body is less prepared to handle stress in the gym.
Action Step: If you are already hooked up with an MAT® Specialist, get into their schedule the following days after Thanksgiving so your body can get tuned up and you can get back to your workouts. If you are not already hooked up with an MAT® Specialist, check out muscleactivation.com and find an MAT® Specialist in your area so your body is always ready for your exercise.
